The map includes the area from Fairlight and Sedlescombe eastwards to New Romney and Dungeness, Kent, and north to Tenterden and Warehorne, Kent. It shows principal rivers and channels, churches, isolated houses, Camber Castle, and towns drawn in perspective view; and windmills drawn in elevation. The site of Old Winchelsea, which was lost to the sea in the 1280s is also shown, together with New Winchelsea, already in decline owing to the silting up of the harbour. A suggested cut, to improve Rye’s access to the sea, is shown by broken lines and follows the River Brede and Dimsdale stream to the coast.
